Alix Nature Trail Society (A.N.T.S)
A.N.T.S is a non-profit society made up of dedicated volunteers. The mission of A.N.T.S is to protect, preserve, and promote the Alix Lake Nature Trail as a valued experience for hikers, cyclists, and outdoor enthusiasts.
The Alix Nature Trail is 6.3 kilometers long and lines the perimeter of the Alix Lake making for breathtaking scenery and an abundance of wildlife.
Points of Interest
Alix Lake is part of the Parlby Creek Stabilization Program providing water for local farming, and stabilizing the water level of Buffalo Lake, situated several miles north east of Alix.
There are three cement markers in the form of headstones lying adjacent to the trail approximately half way around the western loop of the trail. They represent the trail builders and the dates of its construction.
There is a bird watching blind near the south end of the lake. The blind is located off the main trail and is accessed by a side trail to the blind platform on a small treed peninsula.
There are a considerable variety of water, shore and song birds in the area. Some wild animals, such as deer and coyotes may be spotted in the area.
