Dog Licenses:
ALL DOGS three months and older must be licensed
Licenses paid before January 31:
Spayed/neutered: $20.00 per dog
Unaltered: $40.00 per dog
After January 31st
Spayed or neutered dogs: $30.00
Non-spayed or non-neutered dogs: $50.00
Replacement tags can be purchased for $10.00/tag
unless, the owners and/or the dog are new to the Village.

 

Garbage Service: Residential garbage pick up occurs once a week on Tuesdays. Village supplied garbage totes must be used.  All garbage must be bagged before placing in totes.

Recycling Service: Recycling is picked up every other Tuesday and should be placed in green recycling bins provided by the Village Office. The recycling bins are free of charge. The pickup schedule is in the Chautauqua paper.

Compost Bins are located throughout the Village during the spring/summer season.  All types of organic matter (grass, leaves ,etc)are accepted. Users are required to dump the organic matter in the bins. No plastic bags, boxes, etc. are to be left at the compost sites.

Alix/Mirror Transfer Station Hours are: Thursday and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Saturday's 1:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. Located north of Alix on Range Road 23-1. Christmas Hours are: Friday December 22 Alix/Mirror Closed at 2:00pm for Staff Function, December 25, December 26, December 27 & January 1 All Sites are Closed. 

Prentiss Transfer Station Hours are: 9:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Thursday & Friday and 1:00 p.m. - 4:45 p.m. on Saturdays.

Utility Services
Utility Billings for Water, Sewer and Garbage are sent out by the Village of Alix every month.  All water is metered.  Water is charged according to consumption; sewer is charged on a percentage of water use and garbage is a flat fee.  Commercial users are requested to contact the Village Office regarding utility charges.
 
Water Service: Applications for water hook up are available at the Village Office. A $50.00 non-refundable connection/administration fee is required for all new accounts.  The water meters are the property of the Village of Alix.  The care of the water meter is the responsibility of the resident. 
 

Business Licenses/Permits/By-laws 


Business Licenses: All businesses in Alix are required to obtain a Business License for a fee of $50.00 for residents or $100.00 for non-residents, before business is conducted within the Village of Alix limits.  Licenses are available at the Village Office and have to be renewed each year prior to January 31st.

Development Permits: Most types of construction, whether new or renovations require a Development Permit.  This includes garages and larger sheds.  Also, starting a business or home occupation requires a Development Permit.  For more information contact the Development Officer, Tanya Meston, at the Village Office.

Building, Electrical, Gas and Plumbing Permits are the responsibility of the owner.

Sidewalk clearing is the responsibility of the residents.  Sidewalks adjacent to the residents’ property must be cleared within 48 hours of a snow fall.

Alix Community Hall - available for hall rental.

Alix Lake Recreation Area consists of a Day Use Area complete with playground, sandy beach with a beach shower, picnic tables, fire pits, camp kitchen, concession and indoor shower/ toilet facilities.  Eleven (11) beach side campsites with power hook ups are available. For reservations call 403-318-0174, after May 1st.

Outdoor skating is available on Alix Lake during the winter months.

Alix Lake Nature Trail:  There are 6.3 kms of scenic lakeside trail offers bird watching, wildlife, plant life and scenic sunsets. 

Alix Arena is open between the months of October through March.  The ice surface is artificial.  The arena features change rooms with showers, a concession and skate sharpening. 

Alix Agricultural Grounds available for rental.  The facility includes a hall, concession, show ring, ball diamonds, camping and parking.

Haunted Lake Golf Course offers a challenging 9-hole grass green course. The club house/lounge is located on the edge of scenic Haunted Lakes. Twenty-six (26) campground sites adjacent to the golf course are available. For reservations, please call 403-747-2330.
